There have been many deities throughout the world’s history: the Greek Gods, the Egyptian Gods, Norse Gods and the Aztec Gods. All of them interacted with the mortals of the world they ruled, most of them having children with them. However, they were forced to go to the World of Otherness, a world where the Gods go “when they retire”. In reality, they were forced to leave because the world was changing. The forces of nature were making them leave. They would take care of the world now. Mother Earth rose from her resting place and took the form of a spirit, mating with each of the elements’ finest, making various elemental spirits, and putting them in charge of their respected elements. With that done, Mother Earth did one final thing before returning to her slumber. She gathered the spirits and showed them something: she made the very first Mancer. She told them to find people they thought worthy of harnessing their powers – the responsibility of keeping the world safe was up to them now, and to give them warning, and reassurance, she would be watching over her precious children and Earth.
The spirits were left to their own devices. Some blessed those who they thought worthy of their powers while others seemed to give out their power, like it was nothing. So, by this end, Mancers were born. To prevent normal humans from finding out about them, the spirits created an invisible veil, one that would prevent normal humans from seeing what was really happening. If a human saw a Mancer doing magic they would think it was something else. Years passed and everything was well. Mother Earth would check on things every so often, always reminding her children to ensure peace on Earth. But it seemed that Mother Earth wasn’t done with having children, for she was still a woman, even if she was Earth itself. Mother Earth, feeling that she needed a different type of child, and knew what she must do: she went to the World of Otherness, mating with Thoth, the Egyptian God of Knowledge. To her delight, the God had given her two children that were astounding. The boy was could see into the future and the girl was able to see and hear the truth in everything and anything. She instructed her new children to go forth and multiply – the world would need them someday. With that, she went back to sleep.
The children of Mother Earth did as they had been bid, and the world reached a state of peace. However, good things never last and evil must always rear its ugly head at some point. The Spirit of Darkness had become careless in his blessings, and had blessed a black-hearted man. He used his powers for evil and gathered followers in his cause: to destroy the spirits and to harness all the elements so that he could rule the Mancing world. In a panic, the elemental spirits tried to stop him but only succeeded in delaying him. In the hope of getting army of their own to stop the evil Mancer, the spirits created the Treehouses – bases around Australia and the rest of the world where Mancers could train in the use of their powers.
The year is now 2011 and the evil Mancer’s ambition is stronger than ever. He will not rest until he has fulfilled his goals. The spirits are now careful about who they bless but evil is a cursed thing. Other Mancers have now become evil and have allied with the Umbramancer. A set of triplets have been chosen by the spirits to lead their army against the Umbramancer, and have set in motion their destiny. The Aeromancer, the Geomancer and the Hydromancer will become beacons of hope and their current path leads them to the Treehouse of Water.
